I turned 35 this week. It might be a mid-life crisis but I’m now thinking, ‘Why didn’t I ever show off my body when I was younger? Maybe now I will!’
Actually, I think it’s down to a few other reasons. Firstly, I’m on my second week of an exercise programme that I bought called ‘Body Boss’. It’s 3 x 24 minute high intensity workouts per week, which I can do at home and don’t need any equipment for. My boyfriend looks after my daughter while I do the workouts and I even look forward to doing them! It cost about 50 euros and you get access to videos of the exercises online, plus a book that takes you through the 12-week programme.
I’m still eating cake (I just had a birthday!) and, ok, I am still breastfeeding 4 times a day (which uses calories) but I can feel that the fitness regime is making a difference already. I’ve got BODY CONFIDENCE again, 8 months after having my daughter. HOORAY! And I can almost fit into my smallest jeans again, which I don’t remember being able to wear since 2014.
My body did a really amazing thing by producing a baby and I’m even more amazed that it is getting back in shape. Thank you, mother nature! The best thing is that I am a completely normal person who is not going nuts about dieting or running miles and miles every day. I felt fairly bad about my body up until 2 weeks ago and that has changed – hopefully that gives hope to other people who feel the same post-baby.
So now that I have abs again, and an almost-flat stomach, I am going to really appreciate them!
